This is the best watch I have ever owned.
This is the best watch I have ever owned. Period. It has a digital clock (with seconds), a chronometer (stopwatch), an alarm (only one) a timer (can go up to 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds), and the date and month. I got this watch almost two and a half years ago, and the elastic is still perfectly stretchy, and it still tells time great. I have lost it overnight in a field, lost it in a snowy field (to find it an hour later, undamaged), I have gotten gravel bits in the backlight button (still works perfectly), and the best part is, it’s so comfortable, I can sleep in it! The watch is nice and small, so it can be worn for pretty much anything. I find the bulky watches (or 'big face') very annoying and uncomfortable. I would not recommend the other colors because they do not have elastic bands and are uncomfortable. If the band looks too little kiddish for you (I’m thirteen and I’m fine with it) then you can get a new band, but I would seriously recommend keeping it, because it is very comfortable and easy to adjust. Plus it’s elastic so you can just slip it on instead of having to clip it like a belt, which I find annoying. The watch is not waterproof, so make sure to take it off before you take a bath, shower or go swimming. It is water resistant though, so if you get caught in the rain or something, then it should be fine. I know there are more expensive and ‘nicer’ watches out there, but seriously, you get your money’s worth with this one.
Great watch!
Written by the user of this watch, Sean Ebels-Duggan's son.
My mom bought me this watch because I frequently go down to my friend's house, a block away. This way I could know when it was time to go home without needing a stationary clock. It works great. I've had it more than six months and it's still going strong. All of the functions are great, although I hardly ever use the alarm. I've discovered many uses for the stopwatch, and the timer is great if you have a time limit on something you do (e.g. video games).
The stretchy band works great, and I'm assuming that if I can find new batteries when the batteries burn out, I'll be wearing it for at least another ten years, probably more.
I was in the UK recently, so I used the 24-hour and month.date function to adapt my watch to Britain (it can also be put on 12-hour and date-month).
The stopwatch only uses even-numbered hundredths of seconds, but that's totally fine. Sometimes the buttons are a little hard to push. You have to hold them to set the watch, which is a bit painful to your fingers, but hardly. It also uses digital time, which awesome if you need to know the time quickly, or if you just can't tell time on analog watch/clock. It's a great item for the price, and I would recommend it to all.
A good quality watch at a reasonable cost
My 10-yr old grandson was so delighted with this birthday gift, he lit right up and exclaimed 'I always wanted a watch!' (Grandmas know everything.) And we are both happy. I like that it's good quality, Timex, a trusted brand, and that he will learn responsibility as he keeps track of time at a friend's house or after school. I like that rain won't ruin it, and that the band is so user friendly. He likes the snazzy look (camo!), alarms and others buzzing sounds, and bells and whistles. He does NOT own a cell phone, so having an alarm and timer is exciting to him. He figured out how to program it within about 15 min. All this, AND it is indiglo. My grandson's remark was 'I want a watch too' so he will be getting the analog version for his Nov birthday. Everybody happy,
Great little watch, fixed the strap issue with vecro
The watch itself is awesome. Light, small, and comfortable - my 7yo super sensitive son wears it all the time. He's been swimming in lakes and pools, digging in the sand, and so far no problems. Only issue was the strap keeps coming loose, but it's easy to fix with a bit of velcro (just the hook part) sewn on. It hooks great just to the strap. I would dock it one star for this but the watch is so awesome it still deserves 5.
Good for kids and sturdy!
This watch was a gift for my 8 year old. He has smaller than average size wrists, and the watch fits him well. It adjusts down in size enough that it fits my 3 year old, and it goes up enough to fit me (also small wrists).
The watch has lots of fun things to do. My boys set alarms for different things, timed everything they could, and toggled between 12 and 24 h times (6pm or 1800). They needed a little help figuring out how to do it, but got it going quickly after the help.
The watch has been in the shower a few times with no problems, but we try to keep it out as a general rule. It has been dropped and even thrown, and it looks as good as new. My kids love the camo band, and they especially love the timer and indiglo button.
Takes a soakin' and keeps on tokin'!
My 6-year old loves this. I got it because the stretchy strap is easy for him to put on and off. So he actually wears it. The Indiglo is (was*) cool. The only minor "cons" are :
(1) the seconds are displayed ABOVE the hour/minute (unlike most other clocks). And...
(2) it's camo color makes it easy to lose outside.
UPDATE: This watch is still "ticking" even after my son left/lost it outside for a week in the rain. ... And it also went through the washing machine -- which required taking the back off and battery out to drain the water from the display. The LCD time/date/chrono still works; the Indiglo no longer lights up. But I'm happy and amazed that he hasn't lost it and it's mostly survived the rough and wet rides.
Best watch for young boys!!!!
I've been getting this watch for my boys for the past few years. They both started wearing watches around age 3-4 and bc of this, could tell time easily. They are now 6 & 9. They LOVE this watch. Though, eventually the indiglo light wears out from them using it so much at night. This watch has usually lasted a year or more... and that's good, considering I have 2 very active, rough and tumble boys!!! I tried getting another Timex for them one year, and I had to ship them back, because they said THIS is the only comfortable watch that they want to wear. They LOVE the soft cloth and Velcro closure. If they wear in the shower or pool, it dries within a few hours, if they happen to forget to take it off. I highly recommend this one for young boys!!!
Great watch
So, I would really rate this watch at 4.5. I bought this for my son on his 8th birthday. He wore it every day for a year and it was still in great shape, which is amazing because he is hard on everything. It was very comfortable to him. His baseball coach made him take it off at a game and he lost it. I bought the exact same one again since it was so reliable and he loved it. He had it for 3 days, jumped in the pool, and the display went dark and never showed time again. This is waterproof so no idea why that happened. Luckily Amazon really stands behind its products so I was able to return for a new one. Just got that one and hope it lasts like the first one!
Kid home on time :)
The Strap is elastic and is great for smaller wrists. The buttons are a little stiff but that is alright since it will help you from changing the time accidentally. There are three Functions you can set ; Chrono/Stopwatch [counts up], Timer [Counts down], Alarm [set to a specific time]. there are pictures that indicate what is on and you can use more than one at a time. The sound is the same when the timer and alarm go off. My young son loves this watch and does well using it for his own time management - playtime, reading minutes, curfew/home from friends etc. wonderful digital watch.
